Israel Memorial Day

Yom HaZikaron (Israel Memorial Day) begins tonight on April 27 2020.

At 8:00 p.m., less than an hour after the sun sets here in Israel, the flag will be lowered to half staff and the siren will sound for an entire minute throughout the Holy Land.

Its mournful cry is the sound of national grief as Israelis remember the precious souls of more than 23,800 Jewish people who lost their lives protecting the Holy Land or as a result of terrorism from 1890 to the present.

Tomorrow morning, a second siren will sound at 11:00 a.m. for two minutes, marking the beginning of official ceremonies in the military cemeteries.

"As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you; and you will be comforted over Jerusalem."  (Isaiah 66:13)

After the horrors of the Holocaust, God rebirthed the nation of Israel as a homeland for His Chosen People in a single day in fulfillment of prophecy; nevertheless, Israelis have had to defend this nation from those who wish to crush it.

"Who has ever heard of such things?
"Who has ever seen things like this?
"Can a country be born in a day or a nation be brought forth in a moment?  Yet no sooner is Zion in labor than she gives birth to her children."  (Isaiah 66:8)

Within 24 hours of the miraculous rebirth of the State of Israel in 1948, five of Israel’s Arab neighbors, Egypt, Syria, Transjordan, Lebanon, and Iraq, invaded the tiny new Jewish State.

The war lasted 15 months, and God was with the Jewish People.

Although only 6,373 Israelis were lost in the War of Independence, every year the list of those who have died defending Israel grows longer.

Israel's enemies are still determined to extinguish this state, which is the size of New Jersey, and innocent civilians are losing their lives.

Though Israel only wants peace, she has been forced to defend herself from the aggression of the surrounding Muslim nations that oppose the very Biblical idea of a Jewish state.

Israel is a peace-loving nation, the nation that gave to the world the Bible and the Prince of Peace, Yeshua HaMashiach (Jesus the Messiah), Savior of the World.

Please take some time today to pray for Jerusalem and all of Israel.

"Pray for the peace of Jerusalem:
'May those who love you be secure.'"  (Psalm 122:6)
