What is Prayer?

Our Father in heaven!

May your Name be kept holy.
May your Kingdom come, your will be done on earth as in heaven.

Give us the food we need today.

Forgive us what we have done wrong,  as we too have forgiven those who have wronged us.

And do not lead us into hard testing, but keep us safe from the Evil One.
For kingship, power and glory are yours forever. Amen.’  Matthew 6: 9-13

Most of us know about this prayer. The Disciples asked Jesus about how to pray. Jesus taught the above prayer. 

I love this prayer because it teaches you that the Heavenly Lord is your Father! What a wonderful message is conveyed to us! He is our Father. Lovely! I'm from a hindu background where we have millions of gods, that's what hindu mythology says. But when Lord Jesus comes to me, I'm really happy to call Him my Father. Even when writing this, my eyes are with joyful tears. 

You may not know how excited for a person worshiping some idol gods to know the true God and then call Him Father. Let me come to the point, I just want to explain prayer in simple words. 

Prayer is nothing but talking to your Heavenly Father. Very simple! Reveal everything in your heart to Him, tell Him everything, ask Him what you want. Because He knows even before you ask Him. So why are we asking Him in prayers? Just because to have a relationship with our Father! 

Christianity is not a random religion, it is relationship with God Himself! Prayer is not any tradition of asking for blessings. It is just talking to Him. Show Him that you love Him, on your prayers! Reveal yourself in prayer. No need to go to a place to pray. Pray from any place, anywhere in this world to talk to him. He is omnipresent! He hears your prayer. 

Do you know how Marconi invented the radio? When his father was prayer, young Marconi was asking him where is this heaven. His father said  it's above the skies by raising his hands towards the sky. Then Marconi asked how can God hear your prayers even if I nearby cannot hear it. His father said that you are really intelligent. And God has made you to think and ask this question. So the same God will make you understand that one day. So he grew up with the questions how the Lord in heaven will hear our prayers? Then through many of his research, he finds that voice can pass through thin and thick things and invented Wireless telegraphy. Then he said:

Now I can understand that, when people can hear messages from thousands of miles through the instrument which is invented by me, then the Lord will also can hear my dad's prayers.

So that's what prayer is!
